International Ethics and War: a history

Το μάθημα επικεντρώνεται σε δύο βασικές πτυχές της ιστορίας της διεθνούς ηθικής και του πολέμου: απλή θεωρία του πολέμου και ειδικότερα την ανθρωπιστική παρέμβαση. Πιο συγκεκριμένα καλύπτει τα ακόλουθα θέματα: • Εισαγωγή στη διεθνή δεοντολογία (απόψεις κατά της δεοντολογία και τους κανόνες στη διεθνή πολιτική και τις απόψεις για την υποστήριξη της δεοντολογίας και κανόνων στη διεθνή πολιτική). • Το δόγμα του δίκαιου πολέμου από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι και σήμερα, με έμφαση στον Αριστοτέλη, τον Κικέρωνα, ο Αυγουστίνος, ο Ακινάτης, Βιτόρια, Gentili, Suarez και Grotius, και ολοκληρώνεται με την κατάσταση σήμερα (Walzer). • Οι ρίζες της ανθρωπιστικής παρέμβασης: απλός πόλεμος εναντίον της τυραννίας, με έμφαση στη Βιτόρια, Gentili, Σουάρες, Grotius, τους μοναρχομάχους ,το Bodin, και το Vattel. Το διεθνές δίκαιο: η ανθρωπιστική παρέμβαση νομική συζήτηση από το 1830 μέχρι το 1930. • Παρέμβαση και μη παρέμβαση στην πολιτική θεωρία κατά τη μακρά διάρκεια του δέκατου ένατου αιώνα: τις απόψεις του Καντ, Χέγκελ, Cobden, Mazzini και JS Mill. • Μελέτες περίπτωσης της ανθρωπιστικής παρέμβασης στον δέκατο ένατο αιώνα: οι Έλληνες (1821-1831), Λίβανος και Συρία (1860-1861), οι Βούλγαροι (1876-1878) ,οι ΗΠΑ και η Κούβα (1895-1898) • Ανθρωπιστικές παρεμβάσεις κατά τη διάρκεια του Ψυχρού Πολέμου.Οι ανθρωπιστικές παρεμβάσεις κατά την περίοδο μετά τον Ψυχρό Πόλεμο • Η σημερινή διαμάχη ανθρωπιστική κατάσταση. Η αναζήτηση για την κατάλληλη διεθνή αντίδραση στην ανθρωπιστική κατάσταση και τα βασικά ζητήματα στην πρόσφατη συζήτηση για την ανθρωπιστική επέμβαση.

Στόχοι Μαθήματος

The main aim of the course is to familiarize and to familiarize the student with international morality and war issues, while highlighting the historical dimension of these issues.
