Welcome to the "Electronics II" course. The course includes a brief introduction to the manufacture of integrated VLSI circuits along with the practical aspect of polarization techniques and thermal stabilization of both discrete and integrated bipolar transistors. The following is the analysis and design of polarization and amplification circuits with JFETs and MOSFETs in both discrete and in integrated form. They studied also power amplifiers class A, AB, complementary symmetry, etc. At the same time students are exposed to the environment of use ORCAD which have been given from the previous semester. The labor supply given to students counted in the score of June only.

In this course, the basic concepts of statistical physics are given, such as characteristic properties of macroscopic systems and basic concepts of statistics, the statistical description of systems of particles and interactions (thermal, adiabatic, general) between macroscopic systems. The three laws of thermodynamics are also analyzed while presenting the necessary mathematical tools. Statistical physics is a branch of physics that uses methods of probability theory and statistics, and particularly the mathematical tools for dealing with large populations and approximations, in solving physical problems. It can describe a wide variety of fields with an inherently stochastic nature. Its applications include many problems in the fields of physics, biology, chemistry, neurology. This course enables the student to become familiar with the concepts of statistical physics. This purpose is accomplished easily enough if the student to follows the lectures consistently and participates in the solution of the exercises and the development of the tasks assigned.

Introduction to optimization of systems

The operational research is an interdisciplinary branch of applied mathematics that uses methods of statistical analysis, mathematical modeling and mathematical optimization to arise optimized solutions to complex decision-making problems. Operational research object is the establishment of the maximum (the yield or profit) or the minimum (the loss, the risk, the cost) of problems in many disciplines. The concept of optimization has many applications in all branches of engineering. Finding the best path, the optimal design of structures, optimal location of dams, design water and sewage networks, organizing worksites and time scheduling and logistics, are just a few examples of the problems in which techniques of operational research have widespread application. In this course the basic principles of operational research and optimization are presented as with applications of these techniques both at research and professional level.

Biological Feedstocks of Organic Industries

The course presents and analyses the potential uses of renewable resources of plant and animal origin as feedstocks of the broader chemical industry. In particular, the course examines, on the one hand, all typical industrial applications of bioresources, such as the production of bioethanol, acetic acid, pulp and paper, cellophane and rayon, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, essential oils, etc. On the other hand, several modern applications are also presented, which are closely linked to environmental protection and sustainable development, such as the substitution of liquid fossil fuels by biofuels, and the production of biodegradable polymers, medical application products, chemical intermediates, natural colours, pest control substances etc. The students familiarize themselves with the utilization of the biological raw materials, as well as consider the constraints in the applications. Particular emphasis is given in the design of applications.
