The course examines the creation and the development of musical theatre, in particular Opera, which is the most basic form of musical theatre, perhaps from 1600 (time in which Opera is born and formatted as a genre) to 20th century. In particular the course examines the principles of Opera, her reduction in ancient Greek tragedy, her basic structural elements (music, acting, text, dance), the most important periods in the history of Opera and the representative composers who contributed to her evolution and acne. The course is supported by the analysis and presentation of audiovisual material.
