Theatre in the the middle war time: the "epic theatre" of Brecht, the "theatre of cruelty" by Artaud, the theatrical aesthetic of Pirantello. The post war theatre: the movement of the absurd and the political theatre in the 1950's.

The course centralize on two questions; How can the narration of a story defined as theatrical? What contributes in order that a story can be played on stage?

Theater Anthropology is a sub-sector of Theatre Studies studying the descent and pre-aesthetic development of theatre.
Main thematic axes of the course are:
- The Genetics of the Theater
- Pre-aesthetic forms of Theater
- The function of paratheatrical events and rituals (with case-studies analysis of the Anastenaria, Modern Greek Folk-Rituals, the Carnival, etc.)
- The basic anthropological principles of the Art of the Actor.

The course examines the creation and the development of musical theatre, in particular Opera, which is the most basic form of musical theatre, perhaps from 1600 (time in which Opera is born and formatted as a genre) to 20th century. In particular the course examines the principles of Opera, her reduction in ancient Greek tragedy, her basic structural elements (music, acting, text, dance), the most important periods in the history of Opera and the representative composers who contributed to her evolution and acne. The course is supported by the analysis and presentation of audiovisual material.

Practical and theoretical approach which concerns history, education, synthesis and choreography of contemporary dance.

During the course it is attempted to present the art within the historical and social context, while its dependence on developments in the use of materials (canvas instead of wood in painting) is also demonstrated.

Theoretical course with experiential approach which concerns the creative method of rhythmic and theatre game.
