Leukocytosis, which is a white blood cell count above the normal range in the blood, comprises one of the characteristic clinical features of leukemia. Nevertheless, it is also observed in other pathological conditions such as infections and inflammatory responses. Differential diagnosis is highly important for the clinical doctor and the medical diagnosis of leukemia, which demands immediate medical care in most cases.
The aim of the present lecture is to introduce the medical student in clinical practice and in particular in the differential diagnosis and therapeutic approach of leukocytosis. For that purpose, the diagnostic and theurapeutic procedure is presented step by step along with a clinical case report.

This course is a basic introduction to students in English terminology in relation to the discipline of Speech Pathology. For the first time will be rendition of English terms to Greek that are related to the diagnostic process and the therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation to children and adults with communication disorders.

The course is basic for future speech pathologists. This course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts of language and language development. Analyze the different models that prevailed on the language development and conquest of a language code for understanding later language disorders may arise from childhood to adulthood.

This course includes a couple of lectures related to the definition, description, understanding and rehabilitation of deviant behavior. Among its main issues are the classification systems of deviant behaviors and the basic diagnostic categories using the clinical criteria of DSM and it covers the entire spectrum of mental disorders in adults. Emphasis is placed on understanding the clinical characteristics and the psychological and neurobiological theories for the pathogenesis of these disorders. It also includes some therapeutic approaches for the treatment of the previous mentionyed diseases and discussed the utility, limitations and consequences of the diagnosis as institutional practice. Finally, it includes clinical material for a better understanding of psychopathology.

The aim of the course is to familiarise the students with the approach to patients with
diseases of the respiratory system, the clinical reasoning and decision making in a clinical
environment. The students learn to link theory to evidence-based practice in a clinical
setting. The clinical practice is focused mainly on a) the assessment of the chronic
respiratory patient, the patient in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the surgical patient
(lungs, heart, abdomen), b) goal setting and the application of individualised inventive
programmes for each clinical case, and c) the clinical significance of the reassessment in
relation to the effectiveness/appropriateness of the selected intervention.
