An Introduction to the psychology of perception in which the nature of the perceptual mechanism is analyzed, certain laws on the basis of which perception operates are presented, its organizational structure is investigated and the basis of visual illusions is examined. The course is based on approaches of the subject from different perspectives such as of various schools of psychology and neurophysiology with a main emphasis on the advancements made by the Gestalt School of psychology. The material is useful both to theoretical and design disciplines. For the understanding of the elements presented in the course exercises are given which the student may work on either from a theoretical or a practical critical standpoint. Additionally, the student is evaluated by a final exam.

Successful completion of the course should provide students with the opportunity to have a general view of learning, language and thought, and those theories that explain their function. Also students should be able to interpret empirical research data in relation to existing theories, but also be able to plan simple experimental studies to answer theoretical questions in their respective fields.

The aim of the course is the study of specific issues of sociopsychological behaviour related to the function of an individual within a group, the role of the leader and the sport team. Students are encouraged to develop a critical consideration of sport phenomena and behaviours and to familiarize with the scientific matter of studying. All students are obliged to study a issue, to compose a short paper and to present it to their peers.
