The course introduces the student to the genre of apocalyptic literature and examines the historical and literary context within which it was conceived and took shape, as well as its theological significance. More specifically the beginnings of apocalyptic literature and its historical, political and religious context will be discussed. Various apocalyptic texts of the New Testament will be exegetically approached by making use of the tools of historical criticism. The question how early Christianity appropriated this genre in order to understand its existence in the historical continuum will also be addressed. Finally, the significance of such text for the contemporary Church will be examined.

The course focuses on the political history of the later Byzantine period, on ecclesiastical controversies with political implications, on the socio-economic structures and the administrative system. Emphasis is given on the presentation of the relevant primary sources and the bibliography. The objective of the course is the understanding of the political-military situation, the social reality and the multiple factors which led progressively to the decline of the Byzantine empire.

This module surveys English literature and culture from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century. Its aim is to acquaint students with the issues and debates which have informed literary and cultural production in Britain in the last two centuries by examining closely selected literary, theoretical and cultural texts of Romanticism,
Victorianism, Modernism and Postmodernism. The study of these texts will be organized around specific sets of concerns (for example, revolution, nation, gender, race, nature, etc.). Through contextual and interactive readings students will be able to follow through transformations in literary representation as these take place in the context of changing historical, cultural, social and political circumstances.

The focus of this course is twofold: Primarily, learners become aware of learning theories on the background of user interaction with all types of computer systems (including the Internet), and secondly, they get special training on how to adequately manage programming languages, which create with rapid Prototyping techniques interactive models implementing the metaphors and paradigms for "dialogues" that are demanded by theory.
