Objectives

Αt the end of the course the student should have a good insight of: • The organization and function of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. • The mechanisms of organization and transfer of the genetic information. • The basic organization and function of plants. • The basic organization and function of animals. Also, the student will have further developed the following skills/competences: • Working safely in biological laboratories • Good knowledge of the equipment and systems used in biological laboratories.

• There are no prerequisite courses.

Syllabus

Introduction to Biology is offered in the Winter semester. The course is mandatory for the first year students and provides 3 ECTS. 1. Overview of Life. 2. Overview of cells and viruses. 3.
