Engineering Economics II: Business Planning


Cost – benefit analysis. Cost – benefit analysis Case Studies. Introduction to environmental economics. Specific topics of Business Planning (special emphasis is given at the analysis of specific financial tools and funding methods, like Venture Capital). Building – Operation –Transfer (BOT) Method. Public Private Partnerships (PPPs etc.). Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. Groups of students’ practice at Business Planning. Students collect actual data and develop, in groups, the complete business plan of a new or an existing company (preferably of the Environmental or Energy field) which they present in the class.


Objectives

Student familiarization with the general principles of the course.


Prerequisites

Prerequisite of this course is to follow "Engineering Economics I".

Theory: Introduction to Environmental Economics. Cost-Benefit Analysis. Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. Case-Studies of benefit analysis. Business Planning special cases analysis § Contemporary methods of financing (BOT, Venture Capital) § Business plan Case report presentation § Business Plan assessment methods. Practice: Creation and presentation of student's Business Plans.
