Βiochemistry - Βiotechnology (Lab)

The course is designed to teach students the basic and essential laboratory techniques in biochemistry and biotechnology, to be able to use them in later lessons (eg plant nutrition, animal nutrition, pharmacology, etc.) and and in their professional lives.

Objectives

Welcome to the Principles of Biochemistry and Biotechnology Laboratory. This workshop is a continuation of Biology laboratories and Agricultural Chemistry of the previous semester. Some things are worth reminding: The Biochemistry of chemical processes taking place within living organisms, and any other chemical process that we use to understand what goes on inside living organisms. Biotechnology is the way in which we can exploit processes of living organisms for mass production of desired products. Therefore, the laboratory concerning chemistry, and apply all safety rules and good practice, we applied the previous six months. For this reason we have posted on the website again the rules for conducting experiments that will follow. We expect all students to come to their lab with their coat. The laboratory this semester is two hours. So you need to have proper preparation mainly reading the exercise will be posted on the workshop website. Every effort is made to lectures of theory to move with the exercises of the workshops. Now you start a journey to the magic of living organisms. Enjoy, so this becomes a tool for better and more effective treatment of biochemical and biological issues that will arise in other subjects, and later in your professional life.
