Terminology in Speech language Pathology

This course is a basic introduction to students in English terminology in relation to the discipline of Speech Pathology. For the first time will be rendition of English terms to Greek that are related to the diagnostic process and the therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation to children and adults with communication disorders.

Objectives

Understand and use satisfactorily the English terminology of expertise in both the oral and the written level. Understand published scientific articles/texts in English concerning the discipline of Speech Pathology. Translates scientific terminology specialist from English to Greek language and vice versa. Translates and summarize scientific articles/texts from the field of Speech Pathology from English to Greek language and vice versa. Makes short solo - group presentations in English with topics relevant to the discipline of Speech Pathology.

Prerequisites

Non pre-requisite knowledge is needed.

Syllabus

Introduction to students in the English language and terminology of expertise, both in oral and written level. Presented distinguished published scientific articles and books in English related to communication disorders. Perform a systematic translation, interpretation and explanation of basic scientific terms and concepts in English both verbally and in writing. Carry out a gradual training of the student in the use, interpretation and presentation of scientific knowledge of the field of Speech Pathology through short presentations (individual or group) of various eminent scientific articles / books.
