Intercultural Pedagogy


This is a lesson that analyzes contemporary Greek multicultural reality, the impact of immigration on this, and the new role of intercultural education. Particular reference is made to the definition of the knowledge society and socio-cultural  transformation based on intercultural communication and exchange. Examined  thoroughly the role of the new differentiated pedagogy (Kalantzis & Cope, 2012) in a globalized world and the way (re) designed the modern reflectively programs aimed at dialogue and the development of intercultural competence and communication. Also extensively discussed practical issues related to linguistic and cultural diversity in kindergarten, and its management by adopting a differentiated pedagogical approach. Finally, they presented intercultural teaching proposals.


Objectives

At the end of the semester students should be able: • To define concepts such as modernity and globalization, homogenization • To analyze in depth the three education and labor market coupling models: Fordism, Fordism & Productive Diversity • To analyze the three training examples that characterize the school experience (teaching, authentic and transformative education) • Analyze the model of Nationalist Education, Neoliberalism / Neoliberal of education of the State Pluralism • To define terms like interculturalism, intercultural competence, diversity, diversity, reflection, ethnic groups • Analyse models of assimilation and integration • Analyse the concepts of interculturalism and intercultural approach in Europe • To define the objectives / principles of intercultural education and cultural development stages • To give the characteristics of intercultural competence • To define the concepts of otherness and the relevant / different other • To analyze the management procedures of the other in multicultural societies


Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of pedagogy and sociology.
