Coastal Geology [open]


Coastal geomorphology and coastal morphodynamics - the coastal environments. Main factors and key processes that shape the coast ( geology of the coastal zone , topography , hydrographic network, climate, feeding the coast with debris through the drainage network , dynamic state of the sea along the coast ) .


Objectives

The aim of the course is to understand the spatio-temporal variability of morphology / sedimentology of beaches and natural and anthropogenic factors that control it. The student upon successful completion of the course should understand the coastal morphodynamics, recognize physical agents who control such as coastal waves (and transformations / depreciation on the beaches). In addition to know / understand the human factors that affect the coastal morphodynamics eg coastal projects, and the positive and negative effects.


Prerequisites

The course requires basic knowledge of geology , and physics and mathematics for the understanding of natural factors and processes of the coastal environment , eg the ripples and wave patterns and their impact on the coastal sediment and morphology. The lessons of the first year of TETH providing these skills are as follows.
