European Integration and Globalization [open]


The European Integration process is undoubtedly a top political and economic project which beyond its geopolitical significance, raises some key questions regarding its nature and perspective. In the context of the course "European Integration and Globalization" we will study the European initiatives aimed towards a secure Europe in a better world. We will also examine the Treaty of Lisbon, whose purpose is to improve the structure and function of the EU and to strengthen its position in the international scene. The EU is now better equipped in order to meet the expectations for resolving issues such as energy, climate change and immigration. The proposed bilbiography will be supplemented during the course by relevant articles. Both the bibliography and the articles will support the preparation of the work/essays which will be presented during the course.


Objectives

What will be the role of the European Union in a multipolar and complex world? It will enable the EU to speak as one voice in the international community or will evolve into an economic giant that remains supernumerary in the international theater (The Globe); The student who will attend the course "European integration and globalization" will approach the role of new actors such as the emerging powers and their relations with the EU and the US.
