The aims of this course are: • to demonstrate the important role of data in everyday business operations and in business decision making. • To present the basic concept of database technologies that facilitate access to business data and information • To present and analyze the principles of relational databases • To present and analyze the stages of database development, the experts involved and the software tools that are available for this purpose. At the completion of the course the students: • will be able develop Entity-Relationship Diagrams based on textual descriptions and/or business documents • learn the basic principles of relational databases • will be able to transform Entity-Relationship Diagrams to well-designed relational databases.
