Educational Activities in Early Childhood


Students should become aware of the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their application in the preschool and early childhood age through the development and evaluation of suitable activities relevant to the curriculum and including the employment of computers and educational software.


Objectives

Students will become familiar with the psycho-pedagogical implications concerning the integration of ICT in early childhood education.

Course content: Implications of the developmental, socio-cognitive and socio-cultural learning theories on the employment of computers in education Pedagogical activities for the introduction to computers Pedagogical activities with the use of computers within the curriculum Critical analysis and assessment of educational software in early childhood education Design of pedagogical activities with developmentally appropriate educational software Development of educational scenarios ICTs and collaborative work in preschool education Workshop content: Presentation and installation of educational software Design and development of educational scenarios and activities using educational software Evaluation of educational scenarios using educational software
