Multimedia Technology


This course aims to: (A) to introduce students to the basic concepts and themes of Multimedia technology, especially for the analysis and control of industrial technology schemes, which are used to perform multi-tasks in an industrial work. (B) To understand the implications and applications of various multimedia tools in the field of product design and systems. After the completion of the course the student will develop the necessary academic skills to understand multimedia technology and the practical skills which are necessary for subsequent studies.


Objectives

At the end of the semester, the student will be able to prepare a complete multimedia design document and implement a multimedia application using advanced technological tools.

Syllabus

The course is focusing on off-line multimedia conception and implementation providing theoretical and practical notions (2 hours of theory and 2 hours of laboratory sessions per week). The Design aspects covered include content design (contents structure), interface design, interaction design, user's experience design, strategic design. The technology aspects covered include digitisation of images, processing of video and sound, use of metadata and Intellectual Property tools. Finally, the design and technology skills taught are related to technical and financial concerns for the implementation of educational and cultural projects.
