Modern Applications of Information and Communication Technologies


Objectives of the course are to familiarize students with advanced applications of Technologies of Information and Communication and the development of skills to use these applications to solve problems that arise in their professional field. Specifically, students will develop personal file organization skills and school, digitization and image processing and prototyping of multimedia educational material and hypermedia.


Objectives

The goals of the course are: (a) to encourage students to design and develop medium sized database systems; (b) to educate students to organize personal information and school units; (c) to develop students’ ability to create and present educational material, to process, manipulate and extract information from a large body of information via database presentation, multimedia and information processing and spreadsheet tools, accordingly. Laboratory curriculum: Thorough application of theoretical design concepts using database development applications, spreadsheet applications, and multimedia presentation applications.


Prerequisites

For attending and understanding the course "Introduction to Web Science" there are no prerequisites courses.


Syllabus

Content: The computer is approached as a means that provide access to advanced ICT. The course is organized around the following key ICT application fields in education: Organization: needs assessment and registration requirements relating to the operation and administration of the school, school organization, personnel file organization Processing of raw material: scanning and digitization, processing and adjustment of primary material Composition of educational materials: design and development of simple multimedia educational material
