Solution Methods with Computer


The MATLAB software (MATrix LABoratory) is a modern comprehensive mathematical package extensively used in universities and industry. It is an interactive software for numerical calculations and graphs creation, but also provides the possibility to program, which makes it a useful tool for all those involved in the engineering sciences.


Objectives

This course aims to: (i) an introduction of programming, (ii) familiarity with a very important, powerful programming and mathematical tool such as Matlab. (iii) the ability of understanding of the general programming methodology in any sequential language, such as C, C ++, Fortran, Java, etc. (iv) an introduction of basic concepts of object oriented programming. (v) the development of corresponding fundamental algorithmic procedures.


Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.


Syllabus

General examples. Programs with special printing formats. Geometric and algebraic problems. Integration. Least squares. Fourier series. Matrices: inverse, eigenvalues, linear systems. Applications to: Structural, Hydraulic, Transportation and Management Engineering.
