Production Management


The basic mission of the course is to help students understand key issues related to the design, planning and control systems or products provider. In design issues include: design product and service, design capacity, the labor study, the choice of location and land use planning. In matters of planning and control include: demand forecasting, inventory management and production planning


Objectives

To acquaint students with the application of the principles and activities of management in the production function. The specific objectives of the course are: Understanding the role and importance of the function of production, both in manufacturing and in service industries. The analysis of planning and control processes of production of goods and / or services. Providing knowledge on quantitative methods and techniques used in production management.

Syllabus

The course examines issues related to the design, analysis, redesign, optimization and operation of industrial and manufacturing systems and service systems, highlighting the need for efficient management of limited resources of such systems. The student will be able to understand the essential elements, subsystems and functions, and organizational structure of a production or service system. He will gain a thorough understanding of the problems in the design and operation of these systems, and the methods of solving problems related business, both analytical and computational methods with. The course addresses all key areas of Production and Operations Management: principles and components of POM (Production and Operations Management), demand forecasts, site selection, land planning, inventory management, MRP systems, scheduling, Just-in-time philosophy statistical quality control. In each section first they present the business problems and then the tools and techniques to solve them and finally, methods listed implementation of the relevant operational decisions. In most modules are part and case studies to better understand the issues and highlight the practical application of tools and methods.
