Design for sustainability


This course is about design for sustainability. We live in an age that envirnomental and social pressures bring forth a need for new socioeconomic models. Design plays an important role both in the emergence of these phenomena and in creating alternative models, During this course participants will be presented different approaches to design for sustainability in order to get a rich picture of different ways of designing. Also these will be bridged with different emerging ways of designing such as open design or service design


Objectives

Students after completing the course will be able to: Understand compare and contrast different approcahes to design for sustainability Understand the differences between eco-modernist and radical approcahes to design for sustainability. Utilise the quadruple bottom line and the structural principles of sustainability ti frame any design brief
