Information and Communication Technologies in Tourism


This post-graduate course examines the utilisation of modern Information and Communication technologies in tourism. Today's technology does not serve simply as a tool available to tourists and service providers; it has an essential role in the creation of a new experience for the tourist, therefore affecting the nature of tourism in its core. Based on lectures, presentations, case studies, essays and discussions, new technologies are analyzed and explained from both sides: supply and demand on the tourism market. Special attention is given to ongoing research, trends and future developments.

Understand the extent and variety of ICT applications in tourism Understand the interaction between tourists and tourism service and information providers Explore the opportunities for tourism enterprises and organizations to utilize ICT Encourage the introduction of new and innovative ideas based on current and future developments Clarify the complex relationship between tourist-business-destination and their interaction through the use of technology Build knowledge for an effective and organized approach to problems related to tourism and technology


Prerequisites

Previous knowledge is required in the following subjects: a) Tourism management, business administration, business operations b) Sound knowledge of English and computer skills
