RADIOBIOLOGY


The aim of this course is to present to the undergraduate medical students the mechanisms of action of ionizing radiation on cells and organisma, radioprotection and applications of ionizing radiation in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases.

Prerequisites

Tumor biology. Radiology.


Syllabus

Action of ionizing radiation on cells. Repair of damage. Radiosensitivity of normal tissues and tumors. Molecules for radioprotection and radiosensitization. Applications of radiobiology in radiotherapy.
