Statistics in Education II


The use of the statistical package SPSS for the data analysis of quantitative data in Educational Sciences.


Objectives

Use of statistical methods and analyses. Use of the statistical package SPSS.


Prerequisites

To attend the course, students should have already attended and successfully been examined on the course “Statistics in Education I” (STA100), which includes the introduction to statistics as well as statistical tests and analyses.


Syllabus

Introduction to SPSS. Data entry and data base creation. The commands “recode” and “compute”. Data manipulation (split file, select cases). Basic graphs. Contingency tables (crosstabulation), Χ2 test, Fisher test. Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficient. 2 independent samples t-test. Paired samples t-test. One way ANOVA. ANCOVA with interactions. Simple linear regression. Multiple regression. Non parametric tests.
