Computing in Education


• Pedagogical issues in teaching computing technologies in school. Computer Science based technologies and Life - Long Learning. Objectives

With the completion of the course the students will be able to: • Know the evolution of IT in relation to the evolution of the Education’s methodologies. To know also the evolution of the pedagogical theories, and how these are connected to the psycho-pedagogical learning theories. • Know how IT entered in education, the chronological evolution and the models of IT in education and finally which is the situation today in Greece and internationally. • Know the most recent educational models, their characteristics, and their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, to evaluate the Greek educational system and to explore its characteristics. • Know how to organize a course, to write a scenario for the course and to evaluate its outcomes. • Know how to organize a course using IT tools, their models and the models to organize labs. Finally to know to write class scenarios using IT tools. • Know the basic principles of teaching IT at all levels of education and to be informed about the latest research results.
