Reinforced Concrete Structures I

The design of reinforced concrete structures is one of the most common tasks of practicing civil engineers since these structures represent the majority of the building stock in greek cities. The course includes an introduction to reinforced concrete as a material and its properties and then focuses on the design methods according to current codes (EC2-EC8 or the greek ΕΚΩΣ2000-ΕΑΚ2000). Design and detailing of slabs, beams and columns for flexure and shear is examined, mainly when under gravity loading with short references to seismic action.
