The course examines the culture of Mycenaean Greek-speaking population of southern Greece trunk, which, from the 17th century. B.C. at least, and formerly hegemonic centers in Argolida and Messinia, gradually form a wide territory homogeneous culture.
From the period of R excavations. Schliemann and Chr. Tsountas to the decipherment of Linear B script and the modern interdisciplinary approach old and new data, the Mycenaean Archaeology is a milestone of the transition from the Aegean prehistory to the early Greek times.

The course presents the archaeological and, to a lesser extent, anthropological evidence and questions that pertain to hominin evolution from 6-7 million yeas ago to the appearance and global expansion of modern humans (Homo sapiens) in the last 200000 years. The main part of the course is devoted to the period from the appearance of the first stone tools, ca 2,6 million yeas ago, to the beginning of the Upper Palaeolithic, c. 45000 years ago.

Presents a historiographical overview on origins and genealogy of art history as a science, historical relations with the antiquarian, rare collections and curiosities objects, archaeological excavations, the expertise, and then the story in the modern meaning, philosophy and the other sciences, such as the domain goes to its relative autonomy in the 19th and 20th century. It will also examine, in detail, the historical period of 7th art and key artistic movements of modern European art. Finally, we present the basic historical and modern methods developed and applied in the field of analysis of morphology art, imagery, cultural and social history, feminism, post - colonial models.

The course examines the island of Aegean civilizations that flourished during the Early Bronze Age (3rd millennium BC). The summary examination of the island groups (the northern and eastern Aegean, Sporades, Saronic, Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete) is attempted in chronological and geographical order, starting from the so-called "Trojan - Voreioaigaiaki" cultural level and ending at the earliest stages of the Minoan civilization. During the 3rd millennium BC Aegean growing residential centers proto-urban character and marked important steps in technology and art, guided the movement and processing of metals, and shipbuilding. This journey to the urbanization and the creation of "cities" is examined in comparison with the data of modern societies mainland

The course examines the major ideologies and attitudes that emerged in Greek society and expressed in political or social demands, during the formation of Hellenism in statehood, 19th century - early 20th century These ideologies and Attitudes will also be analyzed, as "Realized "symbols of state power, as national anniversaries and all kinds of public festivals and ceremonies. The main interpretative axis is the relative "independence" of ideological, mental and symbolic phenomena in context, however, the political and economic reality of the time.
