The course is focusing on developmental language disorders. Specifically, it studies disorders that occur resulting of non-acquired problems. These children do not show the expected linguistic behavior for their chronological age and vary in relation to the ground, intensity and duration. This course aims to familiarize students with the basic concepts, features and modern research trends on developmental language disorders and ways of diagnosis and treatment of language problems through speech and language intervention.

The students should have at the end of the semester a good understanding of the auditory pathway, the hearing mechanism, and the main diseases associated with it, and all modern diagnostic methods for the detection of hearing impairment. The course aims to give students the necessary knowledge about the function of hearing and its relationship to the development of speech disorders of the auditory system and modern methods such diagnosis and management in neonates, infants and adults.

Language disabilities- bilingualism and multilinguistic environment

This course is the basic introductory course to the study of learning disabilities, bilingualism and their multilingual reporting environment. This course aims to introduce students to the definition of learning disabilities, the characteristics and the theories related to them. Also, through the course, the students are training in interventions of reinforcement of reading ability, recognition of words in writing speech, editing of written text and development relations between reading-writing skills, and strategies of studing. The last aim of the course is: - the understanding by the students of the types and the tools of the assessment in the place of a multidisciplinary team, multiple interventional treatment in the fields of learning, behavior and development of the spoken and written speach, - to familiarize students with international education systems for children with dyslexia and bilingual children.
