International Financial Markets


The objectives of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to international financial markets, the advantages and disadvantages of different markets, box functions, and essential products. Students are expected to understand the functioning of international financial markets and ways of investment of institutional investors active in them. The theoretical background of the operation exercises identical to the content of the theoretical part of the course, and for this reason avoid extensive repetition of the theoretical background. In the few cases introduced new theoretical concepts, those analyzed in order to better understand the laboratory exercises. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will acquire knowledge and skills thus given the opportunity to: • Have knowledge of the functioning of different financial markets. • Know the advantages and disadvantages of each market. • Recognize and overcome the obstacles of the financial system. • apply different investment strategies in different markets, understanding of international financial products, and other business applications

Syllabus

Internationalization of banks: reasons, forms, geographical distributions, impacts on national economies. Internationalization of capital and creation of international financial centers: reasons, forms, effects on international trade and the global economy. Basic form the Eurodollar market. Key products in these markets, the development of international loans. Financial techniques in these markets. Development of offshore centers: reasons, countries, impacts. Risks in international financial markets, reasons and ways to control them. Supervision of the international banking system.
