Statistical Physics


In this course, the basic concepts of statistical physics are given, such as characteristic properties of macroscopic systems and basic concepts of statistics, the statistical description of systems of particles and interactions (thermal, adiabatic, general) between macroscopic systems. The three laws of thermodynamics are also analyzed while presenting the necessary mathematical tools. Statistical physics is a branch of physics that uses methods of probability theory and statistics, and particularly the mathematical tools for dealing with large populations and approximations, in solving physical problems. It can describe a wide variety of fields with an inherently stochastic nature. Its applications include many problems in the fields of physics, biology, chemistry, neurology. This course enables the student to become familiar with the concepts of statistical physics. This purpose is accomplished easily enough if the student to follows the lectures consistently and participates in the solution of the exercises and the development of the tasks assigned.


Objectives

The purpose of this course is to clarify to the student the properties of matter in aggregate, in terms of physical laws governing atomic motion.
