General Translation I

The aim of this course is the translation of general texts from French to Greek. After having presented the characteristics of the translation procedure, with an emphasis on the relation between the original text and its translation, there is an analysis of small texts, such as brochures, manuals, recipes etc.

Objectives

A the end of this course students will be able to:  identify the original and the translated text,  know the different information sources and to use them,  familiarize themselves with the basic translation techniques (e.g literal translation, adaptation, modulation etc.) translate sort text of general content.
