History of Architecture and styles


An introduction to the History of Architecture, in which examples from main periods and movements are presented and analyzed from antiquity to the present. An emphasis is placed on the main causes for the generation of new historical styles, their basic theoretical tenets and their particular visual and spatial characteristics. The student is evaluated both on the basis of exercises and a final exam. Both modes of evaluation aim at the understanding of basic ideas and essential characteristics which will be useful in the practicing of their art whether this be theoretical or creative.
