Global Environmental Problems


The course aims to contribute to the development of knowledge and changing attitudes and behavior of students on global environmental problems.


Objectives

The course introduces the students to the global environmental problems. Emphasis is placed on the atmospheric pollution. At the end of the semester the students are expected to be able to understand the issues of overpopulation, global warming, ozone depletion, and smog. In addition the role of energy production and consumption to the global atmospheric problems is presented and the use of alternative energy sources is presented.

Introduction to the global environmental problems, Reasoning behind the ecological crisis. Overpopulation and limited resources, Introduction to demography, Noise pollution, Electromagnetic pollution Introduction to the Atmosphere: its properties, Air pollutants, Smog, Indoor air pollution, Ozone depletion, Greenhouse effect and global warming
