Queuing Systems

The following issues are studied: Random variables, stochastic processes, Markov chains, Poisson process, queuing theory, Μ/Μ/1 queue, Μ/Μ/1/k queue, birth death process, Μ/Μ/s queue

Objectives

• The course aims to introduce the students to the performance analysis of computer systems. More specifically in the context of the courses topics concerning stochastic processes, Markov processes, Queueing theory, simulation models are presented. On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to: 1. Understand the basic modeling and analysis models of computer systems performance: analytical models, simulation models and empirical techniques 2. Compute and estimate the performance of a computer system.
