Terminology – Foreign language


Foreign Language –Terminology of the 4th Semester deals with the teaching of authentic scientific texts concerning Pollution, types of Pollution, Controlling Pollution. Therefore, students get familiar with discourse features, as concepts and lexis related to their specialty, as well as grammatical and syntactic structures found in terminology texts. Moreover, they practise their writing skills, writing CVs and letters, necessary to meet their educational and professional needs.


Objectives

The major concern of the course is in teaching specialized lexical and grammatical discourse elements in order to: • familiarize students with scientific and technical English texts thematically related to the specialty of Pollution Control , focusing on content rather than grammar and with a view to using manuals and reference material. • contribute to the development of linguistic skills required in students’ participation in postgraduate studies and European Programmes, as well as in meeting their communication needs both on educational, as well as on occupational level.


Prerequisites

• Good knowledge of English (Language level B1, in accordance with the Joint European Framework for Modern Languages)
