Information (Computing) Systems


The module deals with the basic approaches of office automation. Specifically, the student learns Microsoft Excel functions and the following tools; probability analysis, scenarios, target analysis and pivot tables. Additionally, he/ she learns the Visual Basic for Applications programming language in order to be able to adopt it to the office automations systems.


Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the student must: • Is familiar with the fundamentals of office automation. • They are able to create complex jobs through this program using simple and complex functions, applications, connections and systems development. • Searches for, analyze and synthesise data and information, using the necessary technologies. • Decide to support and problem solving.


Prerequisites

No prior knowledge is required for the students of the Department to meet the needs of the course.


Syllabus

• Familiarity with the most important functions of Microsoft Excel 2010. • Use programming language for adaptation of office automation systems. • Familiarization with the functions and commands in Visual Basic. • Limitations and advantages of office automation systems. • Interface applications in the modern office environment. • Business - business applications. • Presentation of results.
