Familiarisation with language structures and concepts of English academic and specialized terminology in the discipline of Philology. The teaching material used covers the following areas: literary analysis, Ancient Greek comedy, Ancient Greek tragedy, women’s role in antiquity, poetry, etc. In addition, students practice the use of a number of grammatical and syntactic features commonly used in this field, including: reported speech, emphatic structures, comparative adjectives, prepositions, etc. as well as the basic writing skills relating to paragraph and summary writing.
• Comprehension and use of the relevant academic and specialized English terminology. • Development of writing skills.
There are no prerequisite courses (set by the Department’s Programme of Study). Nevertheless, it is recommended that the participants have a B2-C1 proficiency level in English before they attend the specific module.
