The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with basic principles related to knowledge discovery in databases. At first, concepts related to data warehouses, such as design issues and implementation architectures are presented. The remainder of the course focuses on basic and advanced topics related to data mining operations, specifically classification, clustering and association rules.


Objectives

Training in database knowledge discovery methods. Understanding of basic methods for classification, clustering and association rules. Study of database technologies and familiarization with data warehouse systems. Competence in applying warehouse and data mining techniques and using related tools. Acquisition of skills related to data information extraction and result evaluation.


Prerequisites

Basic knowledge and understanding of Databases, and basic knowledge and understanding of Algorithms
