Ruminant Breeding Animals (Lab)


Students upon completion of the course you will have the knowledge skills and abilities needed to estimate age in farm animals (cattle, sheep, goats). You will also have the necessary knowledge skills and abilities relating to mechanical milking cows and goats, and the lameness of cows. Finally, the acquaintence with wool and its ingredients on sheep, the structure and texture of hair.


Objectives

With the completion of the study of this lab the student will be able to know the rating of wool shearing (haircut) of sheep and the protein polymorphisms.

Reasons and age assessment tools in farm animals, distinction between adult and juvenile animals, Estimate age based on the epidermal derivatives, Estimate the age of bovine, ovine and caprine animals, the breast, the breast feeding and milking, mechanical milking, Lameness in cattle, wool, sheep Shearing, Protein polymorphisms.
